August 2023

Dear John

We're excited to share that our new State of the Green Belt report
[[link removed]] has launched this week.

Our latest research shows not only the vast benefits England’s Green Belt offers
for people and nature, but also how it’s an indispensable solution to the
ongoing climate crisis. Read on to find out more.

In other news, we’ve been closely following the government’s latest
announcements on how they plan to address the UK’s housing crisis and what this
could entail for our countryside – scroll down to read our full reaction.

The summer holidays are in full swing, and this is the time of year when
wildlife and plants are at their peak! Nature writer Alexandra Pearce-Broomhead
lets us know what to look out for this August, and if you’ve got kids to
entertain, Natasha Stones shares what child-friendly activities you could try
out during the break.

Our 'State of the Green Belt 2023' report argues that the Green Belt, which
protects 12.6% of England's land area from development, should become greener,
wetter and more biodiverse. Read our report and learn about our vision for the
Green Belt in the 21st century.

WESTBROOK INDUSTRIAL LEADS THE WAY WITH ROOFTOP SOLAR
Only 5% of warehouses in the UK have solar panels on their roofs. But Westbrook
Industrial is now using a 21-killowatt solar energy system that generates over
40% of their yearly electricity. Having a vast amount of rooftop space available
– it was a no brainer solution to install rooftop solar panels with the help of ASG Energy Services
