Why is it so important to save bees? Well, the facts speak for themselves: bees are ecosystem engineers. They are pivotal in supporting healthy habitats for birds, insects, and mammals. And bees and other pollinators are vital for a whopping 75% of food crops, like fruits, nuts, and vegetables.
But bees are dying at alarming rates. And toxic pesticides -- like Bayer-Monsanto's neonicotinoids are among the biggest contributors to the massive declines of bees and other pollinators. As pesticide usage increases year over year, bee populations continue to decline.
Bees that come in contact with neonics can face horrible fates. The pesticides can impact bees' ability to navigate and reproduce, and even KILL BEES ON CONTACT. They're also the most widely used insecticides in agriculture.
