Many of you know that I am a former FBI Special Agent. I mainly worked in national security and counterterrorism.
Without divulging sensitive information, I can tell you that our nation faces tremendous threats—externally from countries like China, Russia, and Iran and internally from got-aways on the terrorist watch list and other extremists inside our homeland.
The recent discovery of the illegal bio-lab in Reedley and reports of Chinese entities purchasing land around our military bases place a bright spotlight on our need to be vigilant and protective.
In the FBI, I initiated and led a National Security Enterprise investigation into a hostile foreign government controlled company expanding in the United States. I led the nomination for the company's removal to the Committee on Foreign Investment based on serious national security concerns.
At the state and national levels, our elected leaders are too comfortable acting after the fact rather than taking action early to prevent security lapses.
To be blunt, Congress needs my national security, threat prevention, and counterterrorism expertise. I’m concerned for our nation. As your Congressman, I will push for new approaches—engaging both sides of the aisle—to protect our country.
