John,
On January 6th, 2021, Representative Bush had just been sworn into office, and our nation’s Capitol was under violent attack by armed white supremacists. Cori was shocked -- just like all of us -- by the actions of Congresspeople who joined in the efforts of the insurrectionist-in-chief attempting to overturn the 2020 election.
Senator Josh Hawley actually gave the mob a raised fist in support. Rep. Barry Loudermilk gave private tours of the Capitol focusing on entrances to underground tunnels just one day before. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said afterward that if she had led it, “we would have won.”
The irresponsible acts of these lawmakers inspired Cori to draft her first resolution in Congress, calling for the expulsion of members who tried to invalidate millions of votes -- especially those of Black, brown, and Indigenous voters.
Now, the white supremacist former President Donald Trump has been indicted four times and has been charged with 91 felonies, ranging from trying to subvert the right to vote and have one’s vote counted, to stealing and hiding national security secrets, falsifying business records, soliciting the violation of an oath of a public officer, and committing forgery in his attempts to enlist “alternative” slates of electors.
The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is crystal clear. Enacted after the Civil War to protect the nation from violent rebels flying the same Confederate flag the mob carried on January 6, it prohibits anyone who has taken an oath of office from holding federal office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion.”
Like the white supremacist insurrectionists, Trump is guilty of sedition and should be banned from holding federal office. Click here to add your name and demand every state remove Donald Trump’s name from the 2024 presidential ballot now.

This isn’t a radical idea. The courts have already cited the 14th Amendment in a decision that resulted in the removal of a New Mexico County Commissioner who participated in the insurrection.
Donald Trump himself engaged in insurrection when he incited white supremacist attacks and an attempted coup that left five people dead and hundreds of people injured.
After sending the mob to the Capitol and urging them to “fight like hell,” for hours Trump did nothing to stop them as they assaulted police officers and dragged them into the crowd to attack them with their own tasers and the sharpened ends of flagpoles.
It’s time to hold Trump accountable for his racist, hateful attacks on our democracy and attempts to overthrow our government. We must continue building momentum to hold him accountable and defend our democracy.
Sign the petition demanding every state remove Donald Trump’s name from the 2024 presidential ballot.
Thank you for taking action today.
In solidarity,
Team Cori
