Dear John,

On the campaign trail traveling around our massive district, our kids beg us to stay at hotels with pools when we can. And, every time my daughters get in the water, we go over some basic rules:

Don’t whack each other with pool noodles
Don’t eat snacks in the water
No Marco Polo when the pool is full of other people

It's real simple stuff – the type of rules we expect everyone to follow in a polite society- be respectful, be kind, and play nice.

Now here's the rub: If we can teach our kids to play nice and be social, why don't we hold our members of Congress to the same standard?

Take Rep. Bergman, for example:

In the six years that he's been in Congress, Rep. Bergman has never bothered to join the Problem Solvers' Caucus, a bipartisan group of lawmakers dedicated to finding common-ground solutions to our nation's problems.

When a bipartisan group of lawmakers came together to ratify the results of the 2020 election, Rep. Bergman put party over country and voted to overturn our democracy.

In 2021, Rep. Bergman voted against a bipartisan effort to invest in Michigan’s infrastructure.

In 2022, Rep. Bergman voted against a bipartisan bill to automatically enroll servicemembers in VA healthcare when they leave the military.

Our democracy depends on lawmakers being able to reach across the aisle and find common ground. But again and again, Rep. Bergman has proved unwilling to compromise for the benefit of our district.

I'm running for Congress to make progress on the issues that matter – not score points for any political party. And I'd love your support to do this – no matter what party you're registered to support.

If you want a member of Congress who's not afraid to reach across the aisle to get things done, chip in your first donation of $5 and let’s get Rep. Bergman out of the pool.
