At Washington Conservation Action, we've advocated for forest conservation and management of forests for multiple benefits management practices since our founding. The State Supreme Court's decision last year on our lawsuit, CNW v. Franz, affirms what we've been arguing for decades: our state lands must be managed for public benefit of all the people of Washington; not only to maximize timber revenue. However, as the climate crisis accelerates by the day, our mission has never been more critical. It seems that every day we see more and more alarming headlines, including unprecedented megadroughts and wildfires – it’s clear the urgency of this moment demands fierce action. Our public lands and healthy forests are one of our strongest tools in mitigating and adapting to this crisis, especially for our most vulnerable communities. That's why we're reaching out to ask for your continued support in our mission for sustainable forest management. Washington will elect a new Commissioner of Public Lands next year, and we must organize early to ensure that whoever fills the role next will deliver the swift, comprehensive solutions our state needs. Add your name here to join us in calling for faster progress on sustainable forest management → The urgency of the climate crisis requires us to reevaluate how we address climate change while supporting rural economies and communities. And, innovative, climate-smart forest management is vitally important. That’s why we must ensure that the system governing state trust lands reflects our reality, addressing the rapidly changing environmental, economic, and health needs of our times. With your continued support, we can safeguard our natural heritage for future generations. Add your name here to ensure the next Public Lands Commissioner is committed to this mission! At WCA, we believe that together, we can protect people and nature as one for Washington's forests and all who rely on them. The climate crisis is here, but so is our determination in this moment. Thank you for being a steadfast supporter of our mission. Let's reaffirm sustainable forest management as a top priority for the well-being of current and future generations. In gratitude, Rachel Baker ![]() |
