Governor DeWine joined local elected officials and business leaders in Warren to break ground on the West Warren Industrial Park.
Governor DeWine announced 299 grantees have been awarded federal funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) program to provide enrichment opportunities for students as they prepare to head back to school. The program creates or expands community learning centers that provide academic enrichment and youth development programs for students who attend predominantly high-poverty and low-performing schools. Quality after-school and summer programming is an important part of Future Forward Ohio, the state’s strategic priorities for helping students recover from the impact of the pandemic.
“We are committed to making sure Ohio’s students have more opportunities to learn,” said Governor DeWine. “These community partnerships are critical to providing students with strong after-school and summer programming that will help them thrive.”

 Governor DeWine joined Cleveland officials to announce added state support to help local authorities combat a recent spike in crime in the city.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center, Ohio Investigative Unit, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, and the Ohio Department of Youth Services will partner with the Cleveland Division of Police and other local and federal authorities on a violence reduction initiative for the remainder of the summer and through the fall.
“Our state teams have been in Cleveland, and we plan to stay in Cleveland as long as local officials need us," said Governor DeWine. "We know that most violent crime is committed by repeat offenders who are not legally allowed to possess a firearm, yet they do it anyway. This violence reduction initiative will target those individuals."
Lt. Governor Husted traveled to Delta in Fulton County to participate in a ribbon-cutting for Fox Drive. The road was built to serve Nature Fresh Farms, but also to open the area to new opportunities.
The newly constructed road was named to recognize Ed Fox who led a site selection team while serving as President of North Star BlueScope Steel in the early 1990s.

Lt. Governor Husted, who serves as the Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation, hosted the Governor's Executive Workforce board meeting at the Nationwide Insurance Home Office in Columbus. Governor DeWine joined in on the meeting.

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted announced that with 5,639,200, Ohio now has the most filled jobs in the history of the state, according to data released this morning from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
“Ohio is the heart of opportunity, and today, we are making history,” said Governor DeWine. “We have yet another record low unemployment rate in July at 3.3 percent, below the national rate of 3.5 percent. Our formula in Ohio is working, and today’s jobs news is proof of that.”
"The importance of these numbers is the great career opportunities they represent for the people of Ohio,” said Lt. Governor Husted. “We’ve had six months in a row that our unemployment rate has been below 4 percent, and we have gained 67,700 private sector jobs in the first seven months of 2023. A growing economy is important for more than economic reasons—it allows our children and grandchildren to have great career opportunities without ever leaving Ohio."

Governor DeWine announced an unprecedented increase in the number of children who will now have access to high-quality preschool education. With an investment of $122 million over the biennium, the state-funded Early Childhood Education Grant will serve an additional 14,901 students from low-income families.
The grant is awarded to early care and education programs that provide developmentally appropriate learning environments that address the outcomes and goals essential for healthy development and academic growth. This year, 435 new grantees will join 339 existing grantees to provide preschool to at least 31,569 3- and 4-year old children across the state.
“The Early Childhood Education Grant demonstrates the state’s commitment to Ohio’s youngest learners,” Governor DeWine said. “Children participating in these programs are more likely to start kindergarten ready to learn.”
