John,

As a working mom, I know that when it comes to supporting families, high-quality and affordable childcare is critical. To give our children and families a strong start, we need to get this done. Will you support my fight for childcare with a contribution today? [[link removed]]

When I first arrived at Vermont’s state capitol in 2015, I — the mother of two young children — faced a stark reality: Many of my colleagues were men, older, and beyond having young children to take care of.

My colleagues in the Vermont General Assembly hadn’t been thinking of families like mine that have two parents in the workforce. And when I began advocating for state-supported childcare, they would tell me it was a personal issue and that someone should just be home with the kids.

I know families across Vermont are struggling to balance working and safe, affordable care for their children. Earlier this summer, I visited the Champlain Islands to tour facilities and discuss the issue of affordable childcare.

John, I want parents who want to be home with their kids to be financially able to do that, and I want parents who want to get back to the workforce to have the ability to do that by having high-quality, affordable childcare close to them.

There’s a sizable gap between working parents and the vast majority of our elected officials. For our government to make changes affecting people’s lives, representatives must have an understanding of their needs.

Grassroots supporters like you are what helps me — a working mom of two — run full steam ahead and stand up for working families in Vermont and across the county. Please chip in to support my fight in Congress for childcare for all >> [[link removed]]
