PLANNED PARENTHOOD
We know that while we're working so hard to make sure everyone can get the care they need, there are powerful people trying to stop us. It's easy to feel hopeless or burned out.

But here's the thing: we still have so much to celebrate. And we absolutely have to celebrate. It's what feeds our hope and keeps us going.

Here's a roundup of just three recent victories. Each one of them was hard fought by people who refused to give in to despair. Let's all find inspiration in their determination!
1     Birth control available without a prescription

An FDA panel unanimously agreed that the progestin-only birth control pill Opill can be marketed and sold over the counter — no prescription needed and regardless of age.

Opill will likely become available in early 2024 and is the first that will be available without a prescription.

This is a historic decision that will mean easier access for so many more people across the country and is a huge step forward for birth control access!
2     Abortion in Iowa remains safe and legal

A state district court has temporarily blocked a newly enacted six-week abortion ban in Iowa. This is a huge victory, but attacks continue across the country. Bans have now eliminated all or some abortions in 21 states.

Every time a new ban takes effect, the burden grows — for people who no longer have access to legal abortion where they live as well as for providers who are trying to meet the needs of every patient seeking care, regardless of where they travel from.

When Iowa's ban was signed by the governor, we immediately filed suit to block its enforcement. We won this round and will continue this fight.
3     Virtual health center opens in Michigan

Planned Parenthood of Michigan launched a virtual health care center, designed to expand access to sexual and reproductive health care services for patients across the state. Now, patients in Michigan can access birth control, emergency contraception, hormone therapy, and medication abortion through a simple-to-navigate virtual health center.

One of the main goals of the center is to address the disparities faced by individuals in medically underserved communities by removing obstacles like traveling long distances, taking time off work, or arranging childcare. Now, patients can fit health care appointments into their everyday lives.
Each of these wins will help more people get the care they need and deserve. Planned Parenthood supporters like you helped make all of this possible.

Thank you for all that you do,
