Upcoming: State tax agency's "Taxpayers' Bill of Rights Hearing" on August 29
We thought you'd like to know about the State Board of Equalization’s (BOE) upcoming Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights Hearing on August 29, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The BOE is responsible for property tax programs, the Alcoholic Beverage Tax, and Tax on Insurers. All taxpayers and stakeholders will have the opportunity to comment on the Taxpayers’ Rights Advocate’s Annual Report or share suggestions, comments, or concerns on California’s property tax system and the Alcoholic Beverage Tax before our elected Board Members.
Taxpayers and stakeholders can participate in person, by phone, or submit written comments in advance.
In person
450 N Street, Auditorium
Sacramento, CA 95814
By phone
1-877-336-4440, access code 4192718#
If you'd like to submit written comments in advance, visit www.boe.ca.gov/tra.
In addition to its other responsibilities, the BOE oversees the county assessors' administration of Proposition 19. If you have questions or comments related to Proposition 19, this meeting is a good opportunity to share them with the board.
The BOE is the important elected tax board that some politicians would like to abolish and replace with unaccountable bureaucrats. Your HJTA supports keeping the BOE, an agency led by elected representatives of taxpayers.
For more information about the hearing, visit https://www.boe.ca.gov/meetings/heartra.htm.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Jon Coupal, President
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association
