In a rush? Here’s the TLDR : Lori has introduced a new online transparency bill, but she needs help showing Congress that folks care about this issue. Click here to sign her petition! [[link removed]]
Hi there, friend!
We’ve all done it — while signing up for a new app or doing some online shopping, we get pushed a message saying “Agree to our terms and conditions to continue” accompanied by a PhD dissertation-length document, and we just hit “Accept” and move on.
We do this because currently, company websites are under no obligation to present these terms to consumers in a way that’s accessible or transparent. And though it may seem like a minor thing, with millions of Americans (including children and seniors) using the internet every day to manage things like school, work, healthcare, finances and more — it’s actually a pretty big deal.
Lori believes that everyone deserves to make informed decisions about the websites they’re using online, which is why she introduced the “TLDR Act” requiring companies make their online terms transparent and understandable. But she needs our help urging Congress to pass it — can you sign her petition to help make a statement? [[link removed]]
