Dear John,
As your representative, ensuring the safety and well-being of you and your family is a responsibility that I take very seriously. Right now, fulfilling that responsibility means taking urgent action to address the fentanyl poisoning crisis – a problem that is having a catastrophic impact in every corner of our country.
Earlier this month, I joined a group of my colleagues – both Republicans and Democrats – in calling on the Administration to take more aggressive action to combat China’s role in illicit fentanyl trafficking and eliminate the financial incentives associated with drug trafficking.
Right now, 97% of the fentanyl coming into the United States is manufactured using chemicals from China – and we need to do everything we can to get this crisis under control and hold bad actors accountable.
I’m urging the Administration to keep the issue of fentanyl trafficking high on their agenda in every discussion and meeting they have with China – and enact the smart, effective policies we know will help cut down the flow of fentanyl into our country.
We must do everything we can to combat this crisis and protect Americans from fentanyl poisoning.
I’ll keep pushing for more action on this issue – the stakes of this fight are just too high.
On a different note, when I’m home in Minnesota, I’m always on the lookout for opportunities to visit the small businesses that make the Second District such a wonderful place to live. So, I was excited to have the chance to stop by a South St. Paul staple the other day: The Coop!
Thank you to the Hansons for the delicious lunch!
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
It’s been a minute since I provided you all with an ankle update – but I’m happy to report that this will (hopefully) be my last one! After eleven weeks of recovery, the ankle brace and scooter are officially retired, and the ankle is coming along nicely in physical therapy!
Also, apparently Dakota County Commissioner Joe Atkins and I wear the same tennis shoes – some of us with our suits!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend – hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
