1. NC VALUES: 🎉 We did it. The bills are now
law.
This week, the General Assembly made the
heroic decision to overturn Governor Cooper’s veto of three vital
pieces of pro-values legislation! We have been working tirelessly to
ensure these bills become law and we couldn’t have done it without all
your help.
These bills are now law:
- The “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act”
(H574)
- The “Parents Bill of Rights”
(S49)
- Finally, the “Gender Transition/Minors”
bill (H808)
Together, we worked endlessly to ensure
the truth on these issues was made available to the people of North
Carolina, and that the public’s voice was heard by legislators. Thank
you!
The passage of these three bills brings
us to five bills passed with one to go through the
efforts of NC Values this year! If you believe in the ongoing
pro-values work we are doing, and want to help us continue our
legislative momentum, would
you consider making a needed one-time or end-of-month donation?

2. NORTH STATE JOURNAL: General Assembly
overrides latest round of Cooper’s vetoes
"The six most recent vetoes issued by
Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper were successfully overridden by the
legislature on Wednesday, Aug. 16."
"'HB 808 is a compassionate bill which
will protect gender confused youth from medical and trans activists,
who urge children with mental health issues to permanently change
their bodies by cutting off healthy body parts and consume cancer
drugs not FDA-approved for gender transitioning,' NC Values Coalition
Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald said in a statement following the
override votes.
The NC Values statement also said the
group has 'worked closely with detransitioners,' and brought
detransitioner Prisha Mosely, who was chemically transitions at 15 and
had a double-mastectomy at age 18, to testify before the legislature.
Mosely told lawmakers she was groomed by trans activists on social
media, and doctors pressured her parents to allow the surgery by
telling them, 'You can either have a dead daughter or a live
son.'Â
'Legislation preventing children from
undergoing such life-altering procedures could have protected me and
many others like me,' Mosely said in a statement. 'I was utterly
convinced by adults that I had been born in the wrong body, and that
hormones and surgery were the cure. No doctor should remove healthy
body parts or prescribe sterilizing drugs to children for a social
contagion of mental suffering.”

WEEKLY PRAYER: FREEDOM
LORD, you have blessed us with a
spiritual liberty that is so wonderful and beyond description, that it
can only be understood through experiencing a life-giving relationship
with Christ. However, we also recognize that in your grace, you have
blessed our country with a political liberty that enables us to openly
proclaim the experience of a life lived in the freedom of the
Gospel.
LORD, as individuals and as a nation, may
we never take the inalienable right of religious freedom for granted.
Right now our country has faced a rapid increase in the number of
attacks made against this cherished right. We have seen groups across
our public arena increase in boldness and frequency their smears
against religious liberty. They claim it is bigotry, when we know it
is the security of the greatest of all possible loves.
Be with your people and our country as it
continues to protect the constitutional right protected by our
nation’s Founders. Be with legislators and the Supreme Court, as they
determine through their actions the protection of this particular and
fundamental freedom.Â
“It was for freedom that Christ set us
free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a
yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
“For you were called to freedom,
brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the
flesh, but through love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)
“Act as free men, and do not use your
freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.” (1
Peter 2:16)
Amen
