A-Level results

A Levels

Congratulations to everyone in Nottingham who received their A-Level results yesterday. As a former headteacher in Nottingham, I know results day is always a nervous occasion. It?s natural for students to ask themselves ?What comes next??. I hope young people got the grades they wanted, but they can rest assured that however they did, they have plenty of future options in Nottingham ? whether that?s in education, training or employment.

Free help and support is available for through Futures Advice [ [link removed] ] in Nottingham. There is also our Nottingham Jobs Hub [ [link removed] ] team which runs a range of programmes designed for school leaders, including traineeships, apprenticeships, and other training schemes

Lionesses make history by reaching first-ever World Cup final

lionesses

What an incredible effort from England?s Women to get past hosts Australia on Wednesday to make it through to the Women?s World Cup final ? the first England football team to achieve this feat since 1966.

It?s set up another difficult match on Sunday morning (kick-off 11am our time) against Spain and we wish the Lionesses the very best of luck as they look to lift this prestigious trophy. Special mention to Nottingham?s Mary Earps who put in another fantastic performance to show she?s one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Win or lose this weekend, the team has created a lasting legacy which will hopefully further elevate women?s football on a local, national and international stage.

Nottingham City Council?s Director for Sport and Culture, Hugh White, retires this month after a remarkable 35 years? service with our local authority. Over the years, Hugh has overseen many important landmark events and activities in Nottingham, most recently working on the successful reopening of the Castle after it was handed back to the council at the end of last year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hugh for his dedicated public service to the people of Nottingham.
