Alarming rise in abortions indicated by payments to doctors in first half of 2023 (http://)
HSE reply to Deputy Carol Nolan TD (pictured) indicates another alarming increase in abortions
According to the latest reply from the HSE to a Parliamentary Question about expenditure on abortions, the cost of payment claims from abortion performing doctors for the first six months of 2023 is very close to the total figure for 2019 when 6,666 abortions were recorded as having taken place.
It suggests that, if the trend continues, there will be another significant increase in abortions recorded at year's end for 2023, exceeding the figure of 8,876 abortions for 2022, which was based on the payment claims from doctors submitted to the HSE for that 12 month period.
Abortion doctors have already been paid €2,439,600 in the first six months of 2023, compared with €2,652,000 for the entire year in 2019, the first year where payments were recorded after the law changed to allow abortion on request in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Well in excess of €25 million of taxpayers’ money has already been spent on abortion provision since 2019, when all expenditure, including capital expenditure, is added together.
In addition to taxpayers’ money being used to pay doctors vast sums to carry out these life ending procedures, taxpayers (and not the doctors themselves) are footing the bill for the abortion pills being used. In 2022 alone, the total amount spent on abortion pills was €887,657.
Not a single cent of all the monies spent in the area of unplanned pregnancy by the government in the past five years was used to promote positive alternatives to abortion. This shocking fact alone will have to become a major election issue for 2024 and in the run up to the next general election.
The FG/FF/Greens government have completely caved to the most extreme elements of the pro-abortion movement. Concerns expressed publicly by some senior members of government about Ireland’s soaring abortion rate ring very hollow when their words are matched against their abject failure to take the necessary steps to address the issue.
Thanks to the efforts of Oireachtas members like Carol Nolan TD and the pointed questions they demand answers to, our case is greatly strengthened as we intensify efforts to hold the government to account.
Three quarters of NHS Trusts in England acknowledge the reality of Foetal Pain (http://)
A Freedom of Information survey was circulated to every NHS Trust in England in January 2023 which provides maternity services to ascertain their practice with regards providing pain relief during the foeticide process (also known as a late term abortion, performed beyond 21 weeks and 6 days of gestation).
By April 2023, 116 Trusts had responded. The data from the NHS Trusts which perform foeticide found that 76% of them either are currently or are willing to administer direct foetal painkiller or sedative. 14% of Trusts do not provide direct foetal painkiller or sedative or would not confirm if they would consider foetal painkiller if requested by the mother.
Of the 76%, it was found that 49% of NHS Trusts are currently providing foetal pain relief as part of the abortion process, with a further 26% would only consider this is requested by the mother.
This new data reveals the reality that three-quarters of NHS Trusts in England are either already providing foetal pain relief or at least acknowledge the reality that the unborn child can experience pain.
From the published figures in Ireland in 2022 which showed that 88 babies were aborted on the grounds of a condition “likely to lead to death of foetus”, it is unlikely these children received any foetal painkiller. This new data from England underlines the need for Ireland to swiftly adopt precautionary pain relief for unborn children in late-term abortions, as a small gesture of humanity.
Mom changes her mind during abortion and saves her baby’s life (http://)
After 19-year-old Loraine from the US took an abortion pill and regretted the decision almost immediately, she sought help to save her unborn baby.
According to LifeNews.com, after her desperate search, she found hope and assistance from the pro-life support group First Choice Pregnancy Services.
The medical director for the Las Vegas-based pregnancy medical clinic, Dr Hadiza Hamza, took the call from Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN) hotline and spoke to the young woman.
A family member of Lorraine’s, it is alleged, pressured her into having the abortion. After taking the first abortion pill at a pro-abortion centre, she turned to her grandmother who helped her research options to reverse the effect of the abortion pill.
Talking about Lorraine’s first visit to their centre with her friend, Jessica Ancell, a member of the First Choice team said:
“Once she arrived, she went straight to the ultrasound. On the screen, (there was) a healthy, thriving six-week baby, and, music to their ears, a strong heartbeat coming from the doppler. From there, she just needed some encouraging words,”
Loraine and her baby are just one story of many where unborn babies have been saved from the deadly grip of abortion. She is also one of thousands coerced into having an abortion against their will.
There is a strong hostility in the media and corridors of power to the idea of making Abortion Pill Reversal treatment available as an option to women. We have to ignore all this ill-feeling and indifference and press ahead to ensure that women can access the treatment easily, without barriers being erected that would deny them the chance to save the life of their baby.

Humanity Campaign - Action alert! (http://)

With the Oireachtas adjourned for the summer, it presents a perfect opportunity to approach your local TDs and Senators and urge them to reintroduce some humanity into the debate on abortion. The Three-Year Review, a seriously flawed process which produced a one-sided and extreme report, will be considered by politicians in the autumn. It’s important that we take action over the summer.
We have produced a quick and easy Virtual Postcard for you to sign, which will automatically send an email to your local TDs. Use the button below to navigate into your county on our website and find your constituency.
It’s also important to have meetings with your TDs. These can be as simple as dropping into your local TD’s advice clinic to outline your concerns. Click below to register to lobby your local TDs. Don’t worry – we’ll help you every step of the way with advice on making the appointment to points you might consider raising.
We are heartened by the number of people actively involved and interested in meeting their politicians to express their views. The People Before Profit Bill which regrettably passed at 2nd stage of the Dáil on 31st May must also be countered. Even the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has said this Bill goes far beyond the recommendations of the Three-Year Review – which are already extreme in their own right.
During Summer 2023, it is crucial to engage with our politicians and remind them not to overlook the referendum promises. We need to fight to ensure our abortion policy is aimed at reducing the abortion rate.
Please take a moment to get involved in theHumanity Campaign ([link removed]) . Remember even the smallest effort will make a big difference.
Thank you!

Do you have pro-life material which could be historically relevant? (http://)
We are putting out a call for anyone in possession of any documents, photographs, correspondence, etc. relevant to the Irish pro-life movement throughout the decades. We are particularly keen to receive anything in your possession related to periods such as the 1983 referendum. A comprehensive history of the pro-life movement is yet to be written, but the historians of the future will need primary sources. We are asking for people to get in touch with the Pro Life Campaign (mailto:
[email protected]) if they possess such material (no matter how old or dusty!) to ensure it is preserved now and not lost to the ages.
