There is so much corporate influence in politics, John. I saw it with my own eyes as a pediatrician in Adams County, seeing working-class families unable to afford the care their children needed suffering at the hands of a broken health care system.

Now, between corporate lobbyists dead set on blocking common sense climate action, affordable drugs, and living wage legislation, I see just how negatively corporate money affects us every day in Congress.

John: I refuse to stay silent as the rich and powerful try to rig the rules of our society in their favor. That’s why I’m running this campaign for and fully-funded by the people I swore to represent and why I refuse to take a dime of corporate PAC money.

I’m proud I made the principled choice to run this campaign the right way, but it’s hard not to worry about these fundraising goals when there’s so much at stake, John.

The far-right will spend millions of dollars to replace me with a Republican who will do their bidding. Meanwhile, we’re falling behind $2,500 short - and if we fall short, we’ll need to make hard budget cuts so soon in the cycle.
