Since Roe was overturned, Republicans haven’t stopped trying to take away our rights, including yesterday’s dangerous ruling that will send the fate of the leading abortion pill to the Supreme Court in their first ruling on reproductive rights since Dobbs.
And just last week, Ohio Republicans added an undemocratic ballot measure that would have made it harder for Ohio voters to protect reproductive freedoms in the state constitution.
The GOP is out-of-step with what the American people want. It’s up to us to make sure the will of the voters are heard in 2024.
Make no mistake: if they win in 2024, extremists will try to enact a nationwide abortion ban. They’re focused on stripping Americans of their reproductive freedom—but I’m here to tell you:
It’s time politicians and judges get out of Americans’ exam rooms. Personal health care decisions should be just that, personal.
Ohio isn’t the only state with reproductive rights on the ballot in upcoming elections. There’s also a movement in Florida to get a ballot measure that challenges the state’s abortion ban. New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Arizona and countless other states are expected to vote on it.
These ballot measures are opportunities to increase access to reproductive health care in the coming months—but we saw with Ohio, Kansas, and other places where choice was already on the ballot that it will take all of us building a movement to do so.
