Hi John,
Over the past year, Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan has been the driving force behind a series of accomplishments and milestones that have positively impacted the clean economy landscape in Wisconsin. $445 million has been invested statewide in clean energy projects, and that’s just so far, projections say Biden’s Clean Energy Plan could invest $4 billion in Wisconsin by 2030. Taken together, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), comprise Biden's Affordable Clean Energy Plan. We are truly starting to see the results of the largest U.S. investment in climate in history.
There is so much Biden’s Clean Energy Plan is doing to get excited about, but the numbers and details of national legislation can be hard to get your head around. What do these investments look like for working people? It looks like Ingeteam, a wind turbine manufacturer, saying that because of these investments, they hope to add 100 good-paying jobs, manufacturing electric vehicle chargers, in Milwaukee, that would otherwise have stayed overseas.
At that facility President Joe Biden, along with Senator Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Gwen Moore, Governor Evers, and a crowd of enthusiastic workers and supporters, made the message clear: “Folks, as I've said for a long time, when I think climate, I think jobs.”
Biden’s Clean Energy Plan only passed, by the narrowest margins, because of long years of work by conservation voters and members like you. Our tested method of supporting good candidates and holding them accountable on climate policy is working. People are not only feeling the effects of climate change more than ever, but they’re also seeing the solutions in their communities.
We are offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from Gene Karpinski, national President of the League of Conservation Voters and a leading voice behind Biden’s Clean Energy Plan, on how this law and the 2024 elections will impact Wisconsin. He is the keynote speaker for Green Tie Madison on Sept. 20, purchase your ticket today.
