Working Families Power

John,

Billion-dollar businesses and elected officials in Atlanta have been trying to build Cop City for two years — despite enormous public backlash.

We know that we have the people on our side, and that we can win a referendum to make sure that Cop City — a $90 million mock city where police forces can test weapons and explosives, helicopter landings, and further militarize law enforcement against communities — will never get built.

In order to trigger a referendum and let voters decide, our coalition needs 70,000 valid signatures. We’re excited to announce that so far, we’ve collected 90,000 signatures from Atlanta voters!

But during the validation process, it is inevitable that some petition signatures will be marked invalid as the city government fights tooth and nail to stop this movement. So before we turn in our signatures this Monday, August 21, we need to collect 10,000 more to be certain that we have everything we need to make the ballot. And it’s not too late to get involved.

Join a Stop Cop City phone bank TONIGHT at 7 PM ET to reach Atlanta voters who have not yet signed the petition and make sure they have the chance to make their voices heard.
