Hi John,
We need you to fight for Texas public schools so that they can teach the truth about climate change and evolution. Can you pledge to testify at the State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting with us at the end of the month?
Our state has a long history of political battles over what schools can and can’t teach about evolution and climate change — and from Aug. 29 - Sept. 1, the SBOE will meet to review and adopt a list of science textbooks for school districts in Texas.
John, did you know that Texas is one of the country’s largest markets for public school textbooks? The materials adopted by the SBOE this year will inform how children across the country learn about climate change, its effect on their future, and the steps needed to curb the crisis they’re inheriting — a crisis that’s increasingly immediate after fires stole homes in Central Texas and destroyed entire communities in Hawaii just this month.
Tell the SBOE that they should NOT politicize the science textbook adoption process. Instead, they should listen to science experts and serve the best interests of students by adopting textbooks that teach science accurately, honestly, and thoroughly.
