Dear John ,

The BBC is far from perfect, but it’s vital for our democracy and our culture.

Without the BBC we'll be left with Murdoch and a handful of billionaire media moguls, while Dominic Cummings rubs his hands with glee as our country becomes yet more divided.

Today is the deadline! Donate £5 a month to defend and improve the BBC for the next 100 years.
Yes I'll donate £5 a month to defend the BBC
The government is wilfully attacking our BBC – a spokesperson said they wanted to ‘whack’ it and that it needs a ‘massive pruning back’.

What would this mean for your life? Many of us rely on the BBC – 91% of us use it at least once a week.

Maybe your children or grandchildren watch CBeebies. Maybe you tune in to the Archers, the Asian Network or BBC Cymru.

Your local radio station has been reporting on the flooding. The world service might be something you feel proud of.

You've probably enjoyed amazing drama, wonderful music and incredible documentaries because of the BBC. So many of us have.

There’s a huge amount at stake in this battle. We can’t afford to sit it out – to lose our BBC bit by bit to politically motivated funding cuts.

We know that Dominic Cummings hates the BBC and everything it stands for. He doesn't want the media to call him to account. We can't let him get away with this.

We need 100 people to sign up for a regular donation today, so we can campaign to defend our BBC and our democracy.
I'll stand up for democracy against Dominic Cummings
The BBC is an incredible, innovative example of what public ownership – for people not profit - can deliver.

It has brought the UK together in many ways, for nearly 100 years.

However much it might frustrate you sometimes, would you want to live in a UK without the BBC? With ever more misinformation and polarised debate? With Murdoch and co running the show?

Of course the BBC isn’t perfect and many of us are disappointed with how news in particular has been impacted by government meddling. That’s why we, the people, need to stand up for it AND call for it to be accountable to us.

We need YOU now to defend the BBC for the future – and to fight to make it a BBC we can all be proud of.

Donate now, let's make this happen. Every penny counts.
Let's make this happen
With your donation, we'll be able to urgently
  • Build the biggest, broadest coalition possible
  • Get high profile journalists and celebrities on board
  • Shock the government with a huge mass response to their consultation
  • Organise attention grabbing stunts and media work
  • Call for fair funding and more public accountability for the BBC
We're well over halfway to the target of £12,000 to run this campaign! Donate now to make this happen.
Yes, I'll donate to reach the target
We won’t know what we’ve got til it’s gone. Let’s not wait until then. Don't let Dominic Cummings win.

On Monday we’ll see if we’ve met the target and with your support, we will leap into action. It’s really important to build a big, broad coalition to defend our BBC and make it better.

Thank you for your generous support, thank you for believing in democracy, decency and public service broadcasting.
