Our grounding in the movement to end violence is not only to organize, but mobilize, and encourage our communities to promote, protect, and support choices for all parents in establishing bonds and the healthy relationships that begin at birth.

Sexual Violence 101 in Tribal Communities

We created space for direct service providers, case managers, advocates, and first responders for a Sexual Violence 101 in Tribal Communities training. The training provided basic information, statistics and definitions on sexual violence in tribal communities.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Thank you to the NM State Human Trafficking Taskforce Coordinator Deanna Aragon, the City of ABQ, and the NM Sex Trafficking Tribal Taskforce for organizing and assisting us throughout the event planning. CSVANW would like to also extend our thank you and appreciations to our sex trafficking service providers and advocates who traveled far to be apart of our gathering. Apart of bringing awareness to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we appreciate the former Governor of Isleta and Chairman Paul Torres of All Pueblo of Council Governors for opening the space and honoring whose land were on in ABQ and the Auntie from Laguna Pueblo for closing out our space this afternoon.

Day Of Play!

CSVANW was at the Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation's Native Youth On the Move - Day of Play! The Day of Play is a call to action to get 500 Native youth in New Mexico engaged in play, physical activity, and sports. The event was held at St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, NM. There were great food, music, and water provided during the event. It was beautiful to be a part of this fun-filled, positive movement with Native youth, family, and the community.

Will your community be represented at the national table by your Tribal Leaders? Ask them! The U.S. Department of Justice invites Tribal Leaders to join the 14th Annual Government-to-Government Violence Against Women Tribal Consultation. August 21-22, 2019 in New Buffalo, Michigan.
Meaningful consultation is of principal importance in developing legislation and policies that are inclusive of tribal representation and input. To create and sustain meaningful informed consultation, CSVANW puts forward recommendations for our tribal leaders to utilize that can support broad level policies, strategies and systems to advance the well-being of Native women and children.
