Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star is killing people.
I recently led a group of my fellow Texas delegates to Eagle Pass, Texas — a city located along the Rio Grande commonly used by asylum seekers — and what I saw was barbaric.
Clothing stuck on razor wire on barrel traps where families were trapped. Chainsaw devices in the middle of buoys meant to maim if not worse. Public and private land seized from U.S. citizens.
I’m working to put an end to Operation Lone Star but I need your help to ensure Greg Abbott’s horrifying acts don’t go unnoticed and unaccounted for. Will you make a donation of $10 or any amount today?
Greg Abbot is placing death traps in the Rio Grande, knowing they will injure, maim or kill asylum seekers, including children — there has already been one dead body found stuck to the bottom of a barrel trap. He has also seized and occupied private property, crippled businesses and even taken over a public park.
And let’s be clear: He is doing this without authority.
That’s why the Department of Justice is suing him — but his response has been to double down on his cruelty and inhumane treatment. A 3-year old child just died on one of his relocation buses to Chicago.
There is a right way to treat people and a wrong way to treat people — we must send a loud and clear message to Greg Abbott and others who literally use people’s lives as political pawns to win elections:
These deep human and civil rights violations will not stand.
Will you join my efforts and chip in $10?
Thank you for helping me shine a national spotlight on these atrocities,
Joaquin Castro
