Americans Satisfied with their Current Health Coverage, Lean Against Single Payer, Finds New PRI Survey

When asked whether they would support a complete government takeover of America’s health care system, where private health insurance would be banned and everyone would be enrolled in a government plan, voters leaned more toward opposing than supporting such a move (43% opposed versus 40% in support), with 3 in 10 saying they would strongly oppose it, compared to just 16% who were strongly supportive. Seventeen percent of voters were unsure.

Fixing the doctor shortage requires less government, not more

Congress is looking to narrow our nation’s doctor shortage. After introducing legislation that would reform our primary care system, Senate ([link removed]) Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders ([link removed]) (I-VT) said last month ([link removed]) , “Tens of millions of Americans live in communities where they cannot find a doctor while others have to wait months to be seen.”

ESG and CalPERS Sub-par Investment Returns

Having followed ESG investment performance for many years now, the conclusion that ESG imposes a net cost on a pension fund should not be surprising. Yet somehow it still is. Perhaps more important, by imposing a net burden, ESG is making it more difficult for CalPERS to serve its vital social purpose.
