Low-income workers include restaurant and retail workers, home health aides, childcare workers, cleaners, agricultural laborers, and so many other professions that are critical to the daily functioning of our economy. They face bigger wage and wealth gaps today than ever before, face some of the worst dangers and lack of protections when it comes to their often-essential jobs, and far too often experience wage theft. These conditions make it impossible for low-income workers to survive, much less thrive.

Our incredible team of attorneys work with unwavering support and advocacy for low-income workers. Here are some of our accomplishments in our ongoing fight to protect workers’ rights:
* In 2017, NCLEJ supported the creation of the Milk with Dignity Program, the first expansion of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ transformative model for enforcing farmworker human rights.
* In 2018, NCLEJ won a victory for home health aides in New York State, obtaining an order striking down the New York State Department of Labor’s emergency rules that allowed employers to pay home health aides who work 24-hour shifts for only thirteen hours of work.
* In 2021, NCLEJ achieved passage of a bill allowing part-time workers to collect partial unemployment benefits.
* In 2023, we filed a federal civil rights complaint against Apple-Metro, Applebee’s New York area franchisee, for their racially-discriminatory pay structure and for the retaliatory firing of our client.
* In 2023, NCLEJ announced an exciting new partnership with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to build and expand the Worker-Driven Social Responsibility model to protect human rights in global supply chains.

In the weeks and months to come, we will continue to speak truth to power and demand that our country does better to support the people who are responsible for so much of the daily functioning of our economy. We hope you will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us in this fight.
