1) Lina Kahn Declares War on Silicon Valley

Yahoo Finance asks a good question: Is the chair of the FTC, the biggest threat to continued U.S. high-tech supremacy? Below is a list of the FTC’s relentless assault on America’s trillion-dollar behemoths -– including Google, Apple, and Meta.

The 34-year-old law professor has, of course, zero business experience and is peddling a crackpot legal theory of antitrust enforcement:  The more profitable, innovative, and customer-friendly a firm like Amazon is, the more the FTC is intent on tearing it down.

We have to wonder: Is Lina a secret spy for the Chinese? Seriously.

2) Get Ready For The Next Biden $2 Trillion Spending Spree

The leftist base of the Democrat Party isn’t happy. They’re crying a river that so much of their agenda got left on the cutting board table. Even with $6 trillion of new social welfare and green new deal spending, they protest that: “Millions of Americans are being left behind," as reported by The Lever, a liberal website.

They want — ready for this? — $1.7 trillion MORE spending. That’s how much of the Build Back Better and the Inflation Acceleration Act was nixed by republicans in Congress.

The chart below shows the left’s unfinished business on blowout budgeting.

Take a close look. This will be HR 1 if Democrats sweep the table (the White House and Congress) in 2024. And to pay for it, HR 2 will be the Biden tax increases that would raise investment tax rates to about 70%.

Be afraid.

3) Biden Orders Federal Workers Back To Work, Except In Deep Blue Cities.

This month, President Joe Biden called on federal agencies to "aggressively execute" plans to get employees back to their desks after over three years of working remotely. It’s not the fact that taxpayers are getting ripped off by the hardly-working federal employees that worries the White House.

Now, Biden and the DC Mayor Bowser worry that the local economy in Washington DC will go bankrupt if the workers don’t start buying things in swampland.

Meanwhile, in some deep blue cities, federal workers aren’t safe to go back to work. And, no, we aren’t talking about COVID. On the same day as Biden’s memo, hundreds of federal employees in San Francisco were urged not to come to work due to crime and safety concerns.

The 18-story Nancy Pelosi Federal Building sits next to the Tenderloin district, a den of drug-addled vagrants and violent criminals. "In light of the disgusting and unsafe conditions” in the area “we recommend employees … maximize the use of telework for the foreseeable future," says the Biden administration.

Expect the same work stoppages in Portland, Seattle, Chicago and New York.

4) Scientist Blows Whistle on Climate Change Industrial Complex

Dr. Judith A. Curry., Attribution, via Wikimedia Commons

Judith Curry, a former National Research Council member of the Climate Research Committee and a former scientist at Georgia Tech, used to be toasted by climate change activists. In 2005  she wrote an influential paper in Science magazine warning that hurricanes were likely to become more intense as a result of climate change. “I was treated like a rock star,” she recalls.

No longer. She now dares to question the narrative of the green energy cult. “We're not going to convince China and India and other developing countries not to burn fossil fuels,” she told NPR a few years ago. She has challenged some of the more radical green energy ideas as an expert witness in court.

She told former ABC News and Fox News reporter John Stossel this month there is a “climate change industry” set up to reward alarmism. Watch the interview here:

“The origins go back to the… U.N. environmental program,” Curry says. Some U.N. officials were motivated by anti-capitalism. They hated the oil companies and seized on the climate change issue to move their policies along.”

She ridiculed the conclusion of editors at the journal Science that “The time for debate [over climate change] has ended.” The perversion of science has gotten so bad that if anyone in climate science wants to “advance their career, be at a prestigious university and get a big salary, have big laboratory space, get lots of grant funding, be director of an institute, there was clearly one path to go.”

Drink the Kool-Aid.

5) Climate Change Activists Are Asking Judges to Muzzle the Economy

A rogue judge has ruled that the state of Montana violated the state constitution when it approved fossil fuel projects without taking climate change into account. Montana is one of the most energy-rich places on the planet. That didn’t stop State judge Kathy Seeley from ruling in favor of 16 young Montanan, saying they’d been injured by having their right to “a clean and healthful environment” violated. She railed against “Government policies that slow down and inhibit the transition to renewables.”

Our Children's Trust, the environmental group behind the Montana lawsuit, has filed dozens of similar lawsuits in other states. Its executive director, Julia Olson, predicted: “More rulings like this will certainly come.”

Judge Seeley’s nutty ruling should be overturned on appeal, but the danger is it is likely to entice far more of these crazy anti-development lawsuits – especially in blue states with environmental rights embedded in their constitutions. Those states are likely to include Hawaii, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Illinois.

You heard it here first.
