John,
The Amazon is at a crunch point. Stripped and burned and hacked by chainsaws, it now faces the possibility of total collapse – where intact rainforest, unable to sustain itself, dries and withers to savannah.
But scientists have just given some fresh hope – saying that if an area twice the size of Germany can be rapidly replanted, the forest will have a chance to recover and rebuild. And we can help make sure it happens.
A group of determined forest guardians in Brazil are working overtime to return lost land to the Amazon – harvesting seeds from ancient trees, planting saplings, and nurturing them to grow, in cooperation with local communities. They’ve already covered an area the size of Manhattan, but to reach the critical goal, they need to scale up fast.
If we all chip in, we can supercharge these heroes’ efforts – helping bolster their team so they can plant more trees, faster, giving them the best possible chance of rejuvenating the rainforest and stopping its destruction. And we can step up the campaign against illegal deforestation everywhere.
This is the front line of the climate crisis – and we can actually make a difference. Can you chip in now to replant the Amazon?

Scientists say that if this level of reforestation is possible anywhere, it’s Brazil. With a little care and attention, huge tracts of recently denuded land could be quickly absorbed back into the forest, providing a vital buffer against collapse.
Success here would be a leap forward for the planet – locking critical tonnes of carbon back into the Amazon’s extraordinary trees and restoring vital habitats for jaguars, macaws and untold other species.
With Bolsonaro out of office, there’s finally real hope again for Brazil’s natural wonders – but there’s so little time left. Tree-planting organisations like Rioterra need ALL the help they can get.
The group’s founder grew up amid a forest being destroyed. Now he’s determined to give it new life. Can you chip in and help make sure the Amazon has a future?
