Hi there -- Donald Trump has made attacking immigrants the cornerstone of his presidency.
He tried to implement an illegal Muslim ban during his first days in office.
He suggested shooting immigrants in the legs to keep them from reaching the border.
He demonizes refugees at his rallies and ratcheted up the cost of applying for asylum.
And now he wants to punish immigrants and refugees for being poor. In a 5-4 partisan vote last month, the Supreme Court overturned a nationwide injunction and allowed Trump to implement his “public charge rule.” The rule is designed to make it easier for the Trump administration to block low-income immigrants and immigrants of color from entering the country, and to block immigrants in the U.S. who’ve ever needed public assistance from becoming citizens.
