One year ago today, President Biden signed into law the Inflation
Reduction Act — the single LARGEST investment in climate action EVER.
Since then, investment in clean energy has soared and green jobs are being
created in communities all across the country.

Not only that, the Inflation Reduction Act achieved many of the goals
progressive organizers like you and me have been fighting for decades to
achieve. For the first time, Big Pharma lost and the people won. Medicare
was finally able to negotiate the cost of some prescription drugs. And
we’re doing it all by taxing the wealthiest corporations to actually begin
to pay their fair share.

And we’re just getting started.

The IRA is our movement’s boldest shot at creating a new industrial policy
that focuses on the people, our climate, and our workforce first — not big
corporate profits.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus spearheaded the efforts to keep hope
alive and pass the IRA. You can see just how big that victory is by
looking at what the IRA does:

* Take on climate change in an urgent way, including investing $369
billion in clean energy and climate action, and cutting carbon
emissions by 40% by 2030.
* Empower Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, which will
immediately lower prescription costs.
* Tax the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations with a minimum
corporate tax rate and investing in the IRS to ensure the wealthy pay
their fair share.
* Lower Affordable Care Act premiums for millions by increasing
subsidies to Americans most in need, building on what we did in the
American Rescue Plan.

While the GOP and right-wing establishment actors have done more than
their fair share to strip the IRA of critical pieces, and even claim the
success as their own — we know the truth: Without the IRA, and bold
progressive voices who aren’t afraid to stand up to the status quo, our
country would be far worse off.

These wins are huge, but we must stay vigilant and ready to protect our
