John,
Our new Madam Mayors program — a first-of-its-kind initiative aiming to champion and support woman mayors — gets an exciting new addition today as we endorse pro-choice champion Lisa Brown for mayor of Spokane, WA!
Lisa Brown is one of our 15 endorsed mayors so far this cycle, and she is exactly the leader we need in Eastern Washington — a relatively conservative region of an otherwise blue state. Winning this race will be no easy feat, but Lisa is the woman for the job: She has a proven track record in public service (she was Washington State's first-ever Democratic woman Senate majority leader!) and a career-long commitment to reproductive rights, job creation, and environmentalism.
This race is especially important because of Spokane's proximity to Idaho — one of the most extreme anti-abortion states in the country, and the first to explicitly restrict out-of-state travel for abortions. For this part of the country, pro-choice leadership has never been more critical.
The battle for reproductive freedom is playing out on a local level every single day — and our mayors stand at the frontlines. Donate now to help elect women like Lisa Brown across the country:
