Today is one of those days where we need to ask you to support Chris Murphy’s reelection. Here’s why:

We’re right around the halfway point for the quarter. It’s the moment when we have to start focusing on the end-of-quarter FEC fundraising deadline. That’s the next real deadline for U.S. Senate campaigns like ours — when we are legally required to publicly report all of fundraising numbers.

These deadlines matter because it’s what people watching us — like potential opponents and well-funded special interests — use to judge our campaign. Our fundraising will be seen as a signal of the grassroots support for Chris.

But this fundraising push is going to be our toughest one yet. It comes right after the dreaded “summer slump” where fundraising declines.

Our campaign’s goals are modest but important. We don’t need to break any records. What we need to do is show that we’re sustaining our momentum.

That’s why the number of contributions is just as important as what we raise. Each donation tells Republicans and the gun lobby that we have Chris’ back if they try to put a target on this seat.
