Dear Friend,

It's been an amazing week back home! We were honored to invite our communities to our Albuquerque Open House, hold community coffees in Corrales and Bosque Farms and so much more!

One year anniversary

This week we were beyond thrilled to welcome President Biden to New Mexico to celebrate the one year anniversary of the historic passage of the Inflation Reduction Act! This was the largest investment in climate and clean energy in American history. The savings, jobs and other benefits provided by this legislation have will continue to reach communities across New Mexico.

Fighting for Veterans

I was proud to vote for the PACT Act, the biggest expansion of services and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. This law helps us provide generations of veterans and their survivors with the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve. I hosted two veteran roundtables this week to hear their stories of courage and resilience at a town hall for our veterans. I’m dedicated to honoring their sacrifice by fighting for legislation to provide comprehensive support, from healthcare to job opportunities. Our veterans deserve nothing less.

National Night out

Last week we had a great time at National Night out, where we got to stop by neighborhood parks, listen to music and thank our local law enforcement for all their handwork! I spoke to constituents about all the great work we've been doing in Congress this session!

Fostering the Next Generation

The Lulac National Youth convention brings together youth Latino leaders to participate in a series of engaging workshops focused on leadership training, career exploration, professional development, civic engagement activities and more. I was honored to join LULAC Youth Convention this week and talk with our future leaders about my role in congress and how we bring the change we want to see.

Sandia Labs

I was proud to join Sandia Labs to commemorate the opening of the new Emergency Operations Center, which will serve as a hub for protecting the safety and well-being of everyone involved in our national security, pushing the boundaries of discovery, and serving our communities. I shared legislative updates and spoke about the importance of our Sandia Labs!

Water Projects

I was happy to join the UNM’s Southwest Environmental Finance Center and the U.S EPA to celebrate millions in grant funding for water projects in New Mexico! The center will use the grant to help small, disadvantaged communities build capacity to develop, maintain and operate water infrastructure. This funding is crucial to helping ensure New Mexicans across the state have access to clean water and a brighter future!

 Nuclear Legacy

With the recent release of Oppenheimer, I had the pleasure of talking to Rep. Ilhan Omar to talk about the nuclear legacy in New Mexico. The Aftermath of the Trinity nuclear test had irreversible consequence on our communities. That’s why I'm proud to cosponsor the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Amendments of 2023. This would extend the program for another 19 years and would include the downwinder communities in New Mexico.

Sincerely,
