John, today marks an important anniversary.

It has been one year since President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), legislation my Democratic colleagues and I passed to lower prescription drug costs for seniors on Medicare and tackle the climate crisis—without increasing taxes for the middle class.

For me, this legislation is personal. Growing up, I watched as my grandmother worked well past the age of retirement just to pay for the high cost of prescription drugs not fully covered by Medicare. I vowed to do something about it, and I did. As a millennial, the climate crisis is also personal. I ran for Congress to stop climate change from worsening. Last term, Democrats made progress on these issues, but our work remains unfinished. That’s why I’m running to return to the House of Representatives—to continue making progress.

The Inflation Reduction Act was a huge step in the right direction for our country—even though its passage was fought by Republicans like Kevin McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene, and opposed by Mike Lawler when he was then a candidate for Congress. Congressman Mike Lawler, a former oil and gas lobbyist, would make the climate crisis worse and have seniors like my grandma pay more for their prescription drugs, not less.

As Mike Lawler turns a blind eye to the struggles everyday folks in the lower Hudson Valley are facing, I’m making a promise to you: When I return to Congress, I’m going to pick up where I left off and continue to fight to pass legislation like the IRA to lower prescription costs for everyone and protect our environment.

But I can’t win without your continued support, John. So, I’m coming to you with an important request: Chip in $5 or more to help me flip NY-17, take back the Democratic House majority, and continue fighting for people—not big corporations.
