Hi,

One year ago, we did something so many thought was impossible – Congress passed the Affordable Clean Energy Plan (also known as the Inflation Reduction Act) and took the most significant action ever to tackle the climate crisis.

Today is a historic milestone, but we know the climate crisis won’t stop unless we keep moving forward.

People lost their lives in treacherous floods in southeastern PA last month. Storms in communities across the state have destroyed bridges and downed power lines and trees. And this month counties issued tornado warnings when violent storms tore through much of the East Coast.

This isn’t what our weather used to look like. Even 10 years ago, we didn’t have tornado warnings, heat waves, and storms that dropped this much rain and that occurred this often.

With communities facing these kinds of climate threats, Pennsylvania must pass our own clean energy policies. In fact, the state legislature is sitting on two commonsense bills that would increase the number of homes, businesses, and schools powered by solar energy.

If we’re going to get these bills passed, we need to double down on our lobbying, grassroots organizing, and media outreach to ratchet up the pressure on our elected officials – and we need our members to chip in to extend our clean energy work through the rest of this session.

Please chip in $20.00 today to help us pass common sense policies to expand solar energy and help tackle the climate crisis: [link removed]

President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan is already starting to make a difference. Not only has federal action created more than 170,000 clean energy jobs nationwide, but new tax credits will help save you and me money on our bills. Whether you want to weatherize your home, upgrade to a new heat pump, buy an electric car, install solar panels, or simply get more efficient appliances, you can save thousands on upfront costs and lower your bills at the same time!

But the federal law isn’t enough to reverse a climate crisis. States need to do their part, and Pennsylvania is falling behind.

Not only are our lawmakers sitting on bipartisan legislation to expand access to clean energy. Our opponents in Harrisburg are pushing for a bill to make it more expensive for drivers to buy an electric vehicle in a clear attempt to keep big oil companies happy!

We all deserve clean air, clean water, a healthy climate, and a good paying job. But this will not be our reality for hundreds of communities – especially low-income communities and communities of color – unless we organize in key districts and turn the heat up on our lawmakers.

We count on the support of our members. Please donate $20.00 or whatever you can afford today to help us ramp up the pressure on the legislature and win these important fights for our future: [link removed]

Thank you for all that you do.
