# [#]John,

One year ago, President Biden signed into law the historic Inflation Reduction Act after months of hard work and negotiations.

This landmark law is not only the largest-ever federal investment in climate action, but it also caps prescription drug costs, extends important health insurance discounts, and requires big corporations to pay more of their fair share in taxes.

In short, the Inflation Reduction Act was a major win for climate activists, and for working families nationwide.

After decades of political gridlock, we made substantial progress in treating the climate crisis as the emergency it is.

A historic, economy-wide transition to clean energy is getting underway – and it’s precisely what we need at this moment to both restore America’s position as a global leader on climate change and to build a more prosperous, sustainable, equitable economy for the 21st century.

A year after this historic enactment, we are working hard to realize the promise of this landmark legislation and our communities are starting to see the results. Our region has received tens of millions of dollars provided by IRA funding to support wildfire defense and recovery, critical infrastructure repairs and upgrades, coastal climate resilience, energy savings, lower prices for insulin and other prescription drugs, and much more.

And importantly, these funds are being disbursed with equity considerations front and center. Many grant awards are earmarked specifically for tribes and other disadvantaged communities as part of our commitment to upholding environmental justice.

While we celebrate this leap forward in uplifting American families and in the fight against climate change, we know our work is far from over. The climate crisis is worsening, and as important as this landmark law is in jump-starting the clean energy economy, there is a lot of hard work ahead. It’s going to take sustained commitment from grassroots supporters like you to continue building on our progress.

John, will you add your name in celebration of the first anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act and show that we’re ready to keep this work going? [[link removed]]

Thanks for being in this fight.
