On Monday, a Georgia grand jury made up of everyday people stayed at the courthouse till 9pm, listening to hours of testimony and reviewing key evidence. When all was said and done, they voted to indict Donald Trump and 18 of his MAGA co-conspirators on 41 criminal counts for trying to steal the 2020 presidential election. There’s no need to be shocked. This is a scene that has played out three other times this year, but the facts of the case are unique: Trump was the ringleader of an expansive conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. He and his team fabricated stories of election fraud, and used their own lies to pressure election officials to throw out the results. Trump wasn’t even subtle about it, picking up the phone to ask Georgia’s secretary of state to “find 11,780 votes.” We’re one step closer to accountability, but there’s still a problem. Trump continues to lie to the public about his crimes. We can’t let anyone buy into Trump’s lies anymore. It’s up to us to spread the truth. Donald Trump must have never heard the phrase, “You can’t win them at all.” If he had, maybe he wouldn’t find himself in the situation he’s in now—four indictments deep with a total of 91 felony charges. And seventeen of those charges are related to him trying to steal the 2020 presidential election. Trump tried to lie and scheme his way back into power, disrespecting the American people and our democracy. Now, he’s going to try and lie and scheme his way out of these charges. Thanks for all you do. Sami and Chloe
