Friend,
In case we haven’t met, my name is Brianna Mast.
My husband Brian Mast is a war hero, a Republican Congressman, was recently chosen to lead Veterans for Trump, and was blown up in Afghanistan losing both of his legs when a Taliban IED detonated beneath him.
Yesterday was an extremely tough day for him and countless other Afghanistan war veterans: the two-year anniversary of Biden’s abandonment of that mission in Afghanistan.
It’s a heartbreaking reminder that 13 military families lost a loved one on that tragic day. I couldn’t help but think back to the day when I thought I lost my husband—the father to our newborn son.
There was a knock on the door at seven o’clock in the morning. I could see men in uniform outside the window. Immediately, I feared the worst. I thought they were here to tell me that Brian was dead, but I prayed and prayed that he was alive. Our sweet son was only six months old at the time, and I began to fear that he would be growing up without a father in his life. It was the most gut-wrenching experience I can remember.
By the grace of God, my worst fear didn’t come true. Brian wasn’t dead, just severely hurt after an IED detonated beneath him in Afghanistan, taking both his legs and a finger… but not his life.
