I believe our democracy shouldn’t be for sale, but my opponent, David Schweikert, doesn’t seem to agree. Schweikert has taken over $1 million from corporate PACs during this career. And those companies seem to have gotten their money’s worth from him.
He took over $500,000 from financial industry PACs and then voted to gut Wall Street reform, strip consumers of their right to sue when banks deceived them and dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Schweikert also abused taxpayer and donor money for personal gain. Last year, he was fined $125,000 by the Federal Elections Commission for “knowing and willful” campaign finance violations. And then, he and his staff attempted to “conceal the true purpose of certain disbursements” by submitting false information to the federal government.
David Schweikert makes it painfully clear: corporate PAC money corrupts.
The people of Arizona’s 1st Congressional District deserve a representative who will take on powerful interests when they prey on everyday people, not someone doing the bidding of corporate donors.
I’m running for Congress to represent Arizonans, not corporations. That’s why I refuse to accept donations from their corporate PACs and why I’ll always be transparent with you. But I can’t do this alone – I need your help.
