Dear John,
Kenya announced on July 29 that it was willing to lead a multinational force in Haiti and deploy 1,000 police "to help train and assist" the Haitian police. This intervention will be carried out together with Jamaica and the Bahamas, under the supervision of the United States and the UN.
Haiti has always been under occupation, sometimes directly by the United States, on other occasions in a veiled manner. What has always been the same are the violations of the Human Rights of the population, poverty has grown more and more, the misery, hunger, lack of access to basic services, in short the suffering of the population.
Now with this new foreign military intervention, with another name, the goal remains the same, to keep Haiti as a colony, dependent on the United States, employing other actors, in this case Kenya, which seeks to train its local forces in a complex context of internal violence, and also improve the salaries of its police officers, who would act in this occupation in Haiti.
Black Alliance for Peace, together with other organizations in the United States, are organizing a protest in front of the Kenyan Embassy in Washington DC and then at the Jamaican Embassy, tomorrow:
When: Thursday, August 17 at 12:00pm ET
Where: In front of the Kenyan embassy (2249 R St. NW) with march to the Jamaican embassy (1520 New Hampshire Ave. NW).
Come with signs & your World BEYOND War t-shirts and let's act in solidarity with our friends in Haiti. Enough of foreign military interventions in Haiti. Let's support Haiti with solidarity and cooperation, to contribute to the resolution of the great social problems there to be able to achieve peace in the country.

We hope you can join this action!
