Fox News host blames women for crime in wildly sexist rant
Greg Gutfeld is at it again. He told his co-hosts on "The Five" that women are to blame for society’s soft on crime mentality. The remark came in the middle of a misogynistic tirade that’s become a trademark of the Rupert Murdoch brand. What's the bigger surprise – that even after a pair of billion-dollar lawsuits the cable news network still refuses to curb the worst impulses of their hosts, or that Greg effing Gutfeld, a failed comedian and long-time overnight slot filler, now qualifies as one of Fox News' top primetime hosts?

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Top Republican publicly calls out Trump, signals disaster for his defense
Georgia's Republican governor Brian Kemp clapped back at the disgraced former president's social media post promising to prove there was "irrefutable" fraud in the Peach State. Kemp tweeted soon after that, "The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen. For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward – under oath – and prove anything in a court of law." While not nothing, it's a testament to the futility of the modern Republican party that simply telling the truth constitutes courage in 2023.

Ohio special election data proves backlash to Roe overturning crosses party lines
An analysis of detailed data from last week's victory for pro-choice activists in Ohio show that it's not just Democrats who are ready to legalize the right to choose. Many red counties also rejected the GOP's bid to raise the threshold for next year's historic ballot initiative amending the state's constitution to permanently enshrine the right to a safe and legal abortion – a trend that could topple Republicans' already teetering 2024 prospects.

GOP state law stripping blue county of election oversight ruled unconstitutional
Republican legislators in Texas passed a law earlier this year abolishing the office that oversees elections in the county that encompasses most of the very urban, very diverse, very Democratic city of Houston and its suburban periphery. The Republican DA immediately filed an intent to appeal, however, putting the law back on track to go into effect September 1st barring an intervention by the Texas Supreme Court.

US exempts Baylor University from prohibition on LGBTQ discrimination
In a nutshell, the right-wing university argued that it has a deeply held belief that it must persecute the queer community, and the Department of Education is cool with that. In a related nutshell, this is bullshit.

Denver cop fatally shoots man holding a marker he thought was a knife
Once again a police officer has killed a Black man who posed no threat, and once again, we know the voices on the right will leap to the police's defense. The police were charged with protecting Brandon Cole, and instead they deliberately shot and killed him. This isn't complicated. Unless you don't believe that Black lives matter.
Twitter throttles sites Elon Musk dislikes
In case you needed another reminder that Elon flushed $44 billion down the toilet in a narcissistic ploy to act out grudges, here he discretely slowed traffic to sites including The New York Times, Facebook, and Reuters, then reverses the scheme when it was uncovered, pretending that it was all an accident. Pathetic.
