Hi John, my name is Christina Bohannan, and I just launched my campaign in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District to defeat anti-abortion Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

I’m the daughter of a construction worker who worked long hours to make ends meet. Growing up in a trailer just off a dirt road, I never thought I would be able to go to college or become a law professor let alone run for Congress.

Through hard work and public education, I was able to achieve the American dream. That’s the future I want for all Iowans, and it's that mission I kept top of mind when making the decision to run for Congress.

My opponent Mariannette Miller-Meeks, on the other hand, has put the Republican Party over Iowans. Time and time again, she’s abandoned the best interests of her constituents to stand with the far-right, voting against affordable drugs, good-paying jobs and abortion access.

I’m running for Congress because farmers, small-business owners, moms and dads - Iowans just like me - deserve dignity. When I’m in Congress, I will put you first, and I’ll fight for the best interests of our community.

It’s going to be a tough fight ahead, but I know with your help I can flip this district blue and play a part in taking the House back for Democrats.
