Monarchs are officially endangered, and these iconic orange and black butterflies are rapidly dying out, with some estimates showing population declines of up to 95% since the 1990’s.
What’s worse is that this didn’t have to happen, Friend. A key factor in the devastating decline of monarchs is toxic pesticides like Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup. Driven by greed, the corporation continues to push the sales of its flagship product with no regard for the consequences to our pollinators and the planet. Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, is wiping out milkweed — a vital plant for monarch survival. These plants are where monarchs reproduce and lay their eggs, and it is the ONLY food source for young caterpillars.
One recent study highlighted a frightening fact: every single sample of milkweed collected was CONTAMINATED with harmful pesticides — one-third with levels deadly to monarchs. Young monarchs are hatching on toxic pesticide-riddled milkweed; their first meal may be their last!
The dangers don't end there, Friend. Glyphosate is a probable carcinogen that is also associated with reproductive harm in humans, along with disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease. In fact, farmers and homeowners are SUING Bayer-Monsanto due to high rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma linked to the Roundup they've used on their farms and lawns.
And the most shocking part of all is that Bayer-Monsanto has actually been caught LYING to try and COVER UP the harms of Roundup — even going as far as to manipulate science and evade pesticide regulations — despite knowing that the product is NOT SAFE!
