Late last night Fani Willis, the prosecutor in Fulton County, Georgia
announced the indictment of former President Trump for his role in
attempting to overturn the election results in the 2020 election.

Trump was indicted alongside Rudy Giuliani, former Chief of Staff Mark
Meadows, and 16 others. They are accused by the state of Georgia of
conspiring to form a “criminal enterprise” in order to overturn the
election results and will now face charges of racketeering; among 41 other
criminal counts.

“Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept
that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to
unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.”

Even as this indictment (and the three prior) are moving forward to trial,
the threats to our democracy remain:

* Republican state lawmakers continue passing legislation that would
undermine and restrict the right to vote for countless Americans. ^[ [link removed] ]
* Trump and his MAGA allies continue pushing the false narrative of the
Big Lie despite the overwhelming evidence against them, in an effort
to win the cases against him in the court of public opinion.
* MAGA Republicans and other far-right extremists continue to threaten
and intimidate election officials who are simply trying to ensure that
we have free and fair elections. ^[ [link removed] ]

These threats will only worsen unless we continue our efforts to hold
Trump and his enablers accountable: at the ballot box, in the courts, in
the media, and more.
