Dear Pennsylvanian,

I’m Tim Snyder, a member of the Forward Pennsylvania executive leadership team. We are a volunteer group of dedicated activists building the Pennsylvania Forward Party, and we hope you are as proud of our recent progress as we are. Forward now has four affiliated elected officials in Pennsylvania, active organizers in 15 counties, and a strong, volunteer-led organization in place for 2024. The Commonwealth is one of 12 key states active in the national Forward movement. Just last Thursday, Seth Bluestein, a Republican elections commissioner in Philadelphia, affiliated with PA Forward and there will be a significant announcement in Pittsburgh this Thursday.

At both the state and county levels, we’re working hard to build the Forward party’s network and raise awareness of our mission: advancing consensus-driven policy, advocating for ranked choice voting and open primaries to promote a more vibrant democracy, and get things done for the PA communities we all love so much. As you are on our list of core supporters here in PA, I’m writing to you to give you some background on what we need to accomplish in the next few months, and how it will advance our movement in the state.

THE BUILD PA FORWARD FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

So far this year, we have raised $10,500 – and soon we will be kicking off our statewide campaign for the Pennsylvania party: the Build PA Forward campaign. This effort will be critical to enabling PA Forward to have a positive impact on the political climate in our state. When Build PA Forward launches in just a few days, we hope you’ll consider giving a gift to help us reach our fundraising goal: $100,000 by December 2023. Your gift WILL COUNT! Funds raised will be used to:

Make marketing material (flyers, signage, mailers, video content, etc.) we can use to reach every community in PA with the Forward message. We want to hold events, table at fairs, purchase advertising to promote our message, send printed postcards and letters, get more active on social and digital media, and more.
Hire staff in the state. Right now, the PA Forward organization consists of unpaid volunteers. If we’ve accomplished so much with virtually no staff, imagine what we could do with a paid team working to empower volunteers, recruit candidates, and run campaigns to win local elections.

Join a task group. We have working groups on candidates, priorities and policies, communications, finance, fundraising, and county organizing. If you have experience in these fields, we need the gift of your time and energy.

Help us build our social media following by sharing your story.

Social media is a great way to get our message out there, and we could use your help growing our follower base ahead of the campaign launch. We’ll be launching a social campaign highlighting PA Forward community members and asking them to share their Forward stories.
