Back in June, the Muckrakers team applied to the Guinness World Records to create a new category, an oversight that we felt needed immediate correction: we put in a formal request for “World’s Dumbest Politician” and submitted the very first nomination for the new category.

If a poison ivy vine can be declared the world's longest plant, then why can't we have a category for the dumbest politician in the world? Like pornography, though it may be hard to objectively nail down a uniform standard for what qualifies as dumb in politics, people know it when they see it. And boy, we’re seeing a lot of it lately.

While the competition is indeed hot, with Marjorie Taylor Greene consistently vying for the top spot on any list of dumbest politicians, our first nominee is Lauren Opal Boebert.

Lauren Boebert is, in our opinion, the dumbest politician in office today since Trump got fired. And while we should absolutely laugh at her expense (she has no problem doing this when it comes to her constituents), and have some fun debating Boebert’s merits for World’s Dumbest Politician, it should never replace our commitment to getting Boebert fired from public office.

In that spirit, I want to personally ask that you join us in helping make sure that this person who is wholly unfit to serve in any elected position, much less as a Member of Congress, is defeated next year. Can you donate $25 or more to help unseat the World’s Dumbest Politician and support the Muckrakers’ work to hold Boebert accountable for her false and defamatory statements?
