At the end of every summer, when our kids prepare to go back to school, I’m reminded of my grandma — a public school teacher who taught me the importance of serving others and the value of a good education.
I’m committed to ensuring that children in IL-13 and across our nation have equal access to high-quality public education at safe and supportive schools, with teachers and administrators who have the resources they need to prepare our children for a successful future.
But a report released by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools found that school districts are struggling to find qualified teachers — leading to teacher and staff shortages across the state.
That’s why I’m doing everything I can to address our teacher retention crisis by working across the aisle to pass legislation that ensures American public schools are equipped with the resources and funding needed to help our children grow and succeed.
