John,
We’re celebrating National Black Business Month and Cori’s work -- both in Congress and at home in Missouri -- continuing to invest in, support, and grow Black wealth.
Cori isn’t new to the work of building economic power for Black Americans.
From campaigns to establish reparations, increase wages, and support unions on the national level in Congress, to her work supporting and empowering Black activists, workers, and businesses at home in Missouri, she’s made closing the racial wealth gap one of the top priorities of her work.
Now, Cori needs your continued support to build the re-election campaign we need to win and continue making transformational change for the people of St. Louis and the nation. Will you pitch in and donate $5 to support our work to build Black wealth in America?
PITCH IN NOW!
As a nurse, a single mother, and an ordained pastor in St. Louis, Cori has spent her life as a relentless advocate for justice, equity, and prosperity for Black communities even before she brought her bold leadership to the nation’s capital.
As the first Black woman from Missouri, and the first Black Lives Matter movement activist, elected to Congress, her primary focus is on dismantling the systemic barriers that have historically stood against financial prosperity in the Black community.
She’s introduced legislation calling for reparations, and supports increasing financial literacy to help end the cycle of poverty. Because she understands the connection between mental health and policing reform, she’s introduced the People’s Response Act, focused on non-carceral, community-based approaches to public safety.
Cori especially loves mentoring and inspiring young people to get involved and help diversify government.
Her “Congress in Your Classroom” program is a three-part series aimed at cultivating a new generation of changemakers in our communities who will know that our government works for all of us. She meets with students regularly to discuss issues such as gun violence, racism, food insecurity, and housing; She offers high school students seats on her Missouri First District’s Youth Council, and she’s enlisted a smaller group of students to advise her regularly through her Student Policy Advisory Board, just as they might on a Student Council.
Cori is able to achieve these goals because of your continued support. Your donation will help fuel these initiatives to transform lives and communities while delivering the resources we need to win reelection at the same time. Please contribute $5 or whatever you can afford now.
Thank you for standing together, you and our nationwide community, as we work toward a future of equitable prosperity for all. With your support, we will reshape the American narrative and create a legacy of empowerment that will be felt for generations to come.
In solidarity,
- Team Cori
