Meet Your Fishermen

Tim Osmar is a third generation Alaskan who uses gillnet gear set from the beach into the waters of the Cook inlet. Tim's site at Humpy Point in Kasilof, Alaska is considered the premier location for catching "Kenai Red" sockeye salmon. Tim is a well known musher having successfully completed in the famous Alaskan Iditarod for over 23 years!
Russell and Cheryn Clark have been setnet salmon fishing in Cook Inlet for over 20 years. Their operation is spread over 80 miles. It is truly a family affair for the Clarks whose two daughters hold their own fishing permits and fished their way through high school and college!

Which Salmon is Best for You?
Coho Salmon -  Coho fillets are lighter in color because their diet is more varied than other salmon and includes squid and small fish. Coho have a more mild flavor due to a lower fat content, making it great for those that like a more faint fishy flavor. We recommend poaching, baking in parchment or foil, or pan-searing over medium high heat. Finish with fresh herbs, like dill, and butter to enhance the beautiful mild flavor of this fish.

Sockeye Salmon -  Sockeye salmon are also called "reds" because of the deep, vibrant red/orange color of their fillets. Sockeye eat more plankton and crustaceans, like shrimp, which contributes to its vibrant color and rich flavor! For people who love the flavor of salmon, sockeye is the best choice. Sockeye is perfect for the grill due to its higher fat content and firm flesh. It is also excellent baked or in the air fryer!
