John,
The backbone of our democracy relies on the dedication and hard work of election workers and officials. They ensure that our elections are fair, accessible, and reflect the will of the people. But their vital role is under threat.
As Secretary of State, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges that our election workers face; the rise of online and offline threats, fueled by the false claims about the 2020 presidential election. Too many have been subjected to harassment and intimidation nationwide, causing them to quit in record numbers.
Here in Minnesota, we are leading the way to protect election workers. We passed legislation that increases penalties for those who intimidate or harass election workers. Now, we should make that law national. Let's come together to protect the integrity of our elections and support the individuals who make it possible. Sign the petition now and help ensure the safety of our election workers.
U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Dick Durbin have introduced the Election Worker Protection Act, a critical piece of legislation that aims to enhance the safety of election officials. By signing this petition, you are standing up for those who safeguard the democratic process - and sending a strong message that threats and intimidation will not be tolerated.
Thank you for joining us in this crucial fight to defend democracy and uphold the principles that our nation holds dear.
Sincerely,
Steve Simon
