John — I’m writing to you with an urgent update:

A grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia has just indicted Donald Trump… yet again. That’s the fourth indictment this year for the twice-impeached ex-president. This one coming from District Attorney Fani Willis in her investigation of Trump’s efforts to overturn the Georgia election result in 2020.

Let me be clear: This indictment, like the one returned by a federal grand jury in Washington, DC a short time ago, closely tracks the evidence we uncovered during the January 6 Select Committee’s investigation. And I led the hearing that examined Trump’s conduct in Georgia, revealing much of this evidence.

Trump is charged with a sprawling racketeering enterprise, in which he sought to overturn the election in Georgia and other key battleground states. The new indictment lays out, in graphic detail, many of the overt acts in furtherance of his plot to hold onto power after losing the election.

This case is powerful. And will rely on Trump’s own words, including those that he uttered on the infamous phone call to Georgia’s Secretary of State:

“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have because we won the state.”

“So what are we going to do here, folks? I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break.”

Trump must be held accountable, and we must be prepared to respond to any and all attacks that he and his allies make against those of us who helped uncover the evidence against him and aired it for all to see, including prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia. That’s all for now — I’ll have more updates soon as this breaking news develops. But it’s a critically important moment for the rule of law.

Thanks,
